Off The Grid Adventures With A Clueless Craftsman

If you texted my wife to inquire about my weekend activities from recent years, her response would likely mirror the above. It's probably true, accompanied by some sassy (and well-earned) emojis.

But it's also the title of a book I finished over the holidays, and I loved it.

An Advertising guy becomes frustrated with the minutia of his career and decides to buy a small cabin in the mountains in Washington. Unfortunately, the place needs a ton of work, and he has no clue how to do any of it. So he buys all the tools, gets to work (usually with good friends), and makes every mistake in the book, but eventually figures out most of it. Along the way, he learns a ton about life and carpentry, bonds with his friends, and ends up completely changing the trajectory of his life.

And, of course, it's a true story.

I loved this book and highly recommend it.

The Wager

The Wager is one of the best books I’ve read in many years. And best of all, it’s a true story. It’s written by David Grann, the same gentleman who wrote Killer of the Flower Moon which I am hoping to get to read as soon as
