Trust Battery

Trust Battery

Think of trust like a battery.

When you start a new job, that battery shouldn’t be empty or full — it should be somewhere in the middle. Enough juice to give you a fair chance to prove yourself, but not so much that anyone’s betting the company on day one.

Over time, as you show up, do good work, and come through for people, the charge goes up. After a couple of years, if you’ve done it right, your battery should be close to full.

Now, two things:

  • 1. Stay long enough to charge it fully. Too many people bounce before they ever get to see what a full trust battery feels like. Stick around, let it fill, and then do something meaningful with it.
  • 2. Use it. A full battery isn’t for show. It’s there so you can take smarter, bolder risks. And once you’ve earned that trust, you actually owe it to others to use it.

Charge your trust battery.

Then use it.

Because the real risk is in never taking one at all.
